CCRx is pleased to announce that we have been selected as a recipient of a $5,000 award on behalf of the The Chicago Community Trust Acting Up awards.
CCRx plans to use this money for our Teacher 2 Teacher Creative Reuse Workshop series, starting this summer.
"We asked Chicago teachers to share their best practices of creative reuse in the classroom and are going to share those with teachers from across the city," said CCRx Executive Director Barbara Koenen. "We are excited to share these ideas and support the creativity of Chicago teachers and their students."
In May, CCRx participated in The Chicago Community Trust’s fifth annual On the Table – coming together in small groups for mealtime conversations to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing their communities and to share ideas on what they can do to make a difference. To encourage On the Table participants to move their ideas from discussion to action and support tangible activities that benefit neighborhoods, the Trust created the Acting Up awards.
“On the Table provides a forum for residents to come together, make connections and come up with ideas to make our communities better,” said Daniel Ash, chief marketing officer, The Chicago Community Trust. “The Acting Up awards will help make some of these ideas a reality – we can’t wait to hear about the impact that these projects will have across the region.”
Working in partnership with Goodcity, the Trust gave away more than $150,000 to 37 projects this year – in an effort to help people to work together and take action for the public good. Over the past three years, Acting Up awards totaling more than $350,000 have been given to 167 diverse projects discussed during On the Table. View all the winning entries here.
