Creative Chicago Reuse Exchange (CCRx) and T.H.U.G. Hippie (The Healing U Give) are collaborating to bring THE CREATIVITY BUS to several neighborhood organizations, community groups and block clubs on Chicago’s SW side.
THE CREATIVITY BUS will pull up to each event and provide a FREE 3 hour program that combines physical and artistic activities for all ages. These events are free thanks to the generosity of the Chicago Fund for Safe and Peaceful Communities.
THE CREATIVITY BUS’s 3-hour program combines physical and artistic activities for all ages. The physical components are:
Rhythm & Confidence Jump and Jam. T.H.U.G Hippie's signature community building program is a facilitated Double Dutch Workshop teaching you everything from the history and songs to, of course, how to jump, AND/OR
Community Drum Circle Jam a gently guided opportunity for community connection and another chance to exercise some rhythm & confidence.
With your body up and moving, engage your artistic soul with a Creative Reuse Project(s):
Peace Bracelets Design and bead 2 bracelets -- one for yourself and one to give. Choose from a variety of beads and each bracelet will include a "Peace" bead.
Shape Robots Easy to assemble with pipe cleaners, corrugated plastic and stickers.
Frankentoys Make the toy of your dreams from an eclectic mix of deconstructed toy pieces that would love a new spark of life when you combine them into a Frankentoy!
Spirit Animal Masks Is your Spirit Animal a cat, a dog, a bird or another creature all together? Make your mask with beads, glitter, feathers, paint + more…
Make Your Own Instrument A rainstick, a drum, a shaker or kazoo, even guitar and become a rock star with your own instrument to bring to the Community Drum Jam
